Welcome to my [Dumb] Passive Income Report! This blog is all about what I am doing to create several different passive income streams. This monthly income report details my results. I work very hard and dedicate many hours each week to working on my different online endeavors in an attempt to create passive income. So why do I consider it passive income then? Because I am not trading specified amounts of time for a predetermined amount of money like I do at my day job. Most of the income you will see in this report results from work I have done in the past.

Why am I sharing my income publicly? Hopefully to gain credibility with you (the readers) and to maintain a certain degree of accountability for myself. I could blog all day long about what I am doing to create passive income online, including some of my unique strategies. But why would anybody trust me and believe that what I am doing works if I don’t prove it by sharing my results? This is what I mean by gaining credibility and this is one of the main purposes for sharing my income. I also share my failures on the blog, which holds me accountable. Knowing that I will be publishing a monthly income report will keep me motivated to keep pushing forward and plugging away on the things I need to do to create future passive income.

PBN’s Are Not Dead and Powerful Links Still Matter

I am not living under a rock. Unless you are, I’m sure you are aware of the recent shake-up that Google has caused with their mass de-indexing of PBN sites and manual “thin content” penalties that they’ve been handing out to sites that are linked to from certain PBN’s. I’ve been following several different threads online and via email and also reading a few of the popular SEO blogs that have posted recently on this topic. And now I am writing my own post and offering my own take and opinion on the matter. I’m sure some of you are wondering how my sites fared throughout this whole debacle.

I find it to be somewhat humorous that Google thinks they own the internet. It’s even funnier to me that so many webmasters and SEO’s apparently think the same thing. Google does, in fact, own the largest and second largest share of the internet search market (Google and YouTube) – but they don’t own the entire internet. They just control a large portion of the internet because so many people want to stay in Google’s good graces so that they will send free traffic to their websites. Perhaps the U.S. Post Office better watch their backs – Google might try to own them pretty soon too!

Selecting a domain for a new niche site is more important than you think. It is also one of the more overlooked and less talked about aspects in the overall process of building a niche site. I’ve come to understand just how important it really is – and for this reason I’ve dedicated an entire video and post on the topic. Choosing the right or wrong domain can literally make or break your site.

I had to learn one lesson the hard way when I built out a brand new niche site on a bad domain. That experience has led me to this entire process that I now use to spam-check domains before I purchase them. That’s right – even if it’s a brand new domain name that I dream up and think is totally original – I always check every single domain now before I register them. You just never know. It really doesn’t take very long and it can save you a lot of time and heartache if you are able to find that a domain you were considering is actually no good.

Niche Site at Night – Choosing a Niche (and More Keyword Research Explained)

Well – I did it. I chose my niche and I’ve revealed it publicly within the video embedded below. There’s no turning back now. I’ve gone out on a limb. I’ve dipped my toes in the water. I’m in uncharted territory and the adventure is just beginning! I’m actually pretty excited about the niche that I’ve chosen. Excited for more reasons than one. I’m really excited about the possibilities that I could bring to life within a site built around this topic. It’s based on something I previously knew absolutely nothing about – but I can see myself becoming very passionate about. I’m actually looking forward to putting a lot of time into this niche site because I am eager to learn more about it and help others learn more about the topic too.

There are some things about this niche though that might seem a little off-the-wall, especially to experienced niche site builders who have been in the game for the past couple of years. As I dove into the keyword research and some of the other criteria I use to select a niche – I went a little bit against the grain as far as doing things the way many people have done them recently in the world of building niche sites.

As I continue with my keyword research and niche selection process – I wanted to quickly share one more trick that I use to find profitable Amazon keywords. In my previous post and video, I shared how I use the Azon Top 100 Analyzer to find good seed keywords to punch into Long Tail Pro and begin my keyword research process. Niche Site at Night Update – Unexpected Delays (A bad one and a good one)

It’s been a week since I published my introductory post for my Niche Site at Night case study. If you are reading this in real time, it will make sense that I am publishing a post like this today. If you are reading this in the future – this won’t matter much to you. But as I chronicle the entire thing – I wanted to keep you up to date as to what is going on. I published the intro post on a Monday in July, 2014. I fully expected to jump right in and start working on the site that entire week at night. So why didn’t I?

I actually caught a bad cold during the hottest time of the year – the middle of summer! I felt absolutely miserable for most of last week and didn’t get very much done at all. As far as unexpected delays – that was the bad one. There’s also a good one that applies to this week.

Niche sites. I’m obsessed with them. I’ve tried several different tactics over the last couple of years to try to grow my passive income streams – but I keep coming back to niche sites. In fact, most of my time lately has been spent building out several different niche sites. I’ve had plenty of failures along the way, and more recently have been experiencing some success. Although I’ve kept up with my monthly income reports here on Dumb Passive Income – I haven’t exactly been posting much else over the last several months. It’s a shame that I haven’t had the time. Blogging about what I am doing to create passive income online is one of my favorite things to do with my limited computer time. If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know that I like to wake up at 5am every morning to work on my computer. I’ve even been known to get up at 4am once in awhile! I do this so that I can work distraction-free for a couple of hours. Not much gets done after my 3 young kids and my wife wake up. Plus, this is still just a side hustle gig for me. I still work a full-time day job driving a semi truck. And when I get home from work each night, that’s family time. I never let my internet business stuff get in the way of family time.
