[Dumb] Passive Income Report for April 2015

Passive Income Report April 2015

Welcome to my [Dumb] Passive Income Report! This blog is all about what I am doing to create several different passive income streams. This monthly income report details my results. I work very hard and dedicate many hours each week to working on my different online endeavors in an attempt to create passive income. So why do I consider it passive income then? Because I am not trading specified amounts of time for a predetermined amount of money like I do at my day job. Most of the income you will see in this report results from work I have done in the past.

Why am I sharing my income publicly? Hopefully to gain credibility with you (the readers) and to maintain a certain degree of accountability for myself. I could blog all day long about what I am doing to create passive income online, including some of my unique strategies. But why would anybody trust me and believe that what I am doing works if I don’t prove it by sharing my results? This is what I mean by gaining credibility and this is one of the main purposes for sharing my income. I also share my failures on the blog, which holds me accountable. Knowing that I will be publishing a monthly income report will keep me motivated to keep pushing forward and plugging away on the things I need to do to create future passive income.

Fastest Web Hosting for WordPress (Revisited) – My Site Speed Obsession

the fastest web hosting for wordpress

the fastest web hosting for wordpressAlmost exactly one year ago, I moved this blog – Dumb Passive Income – to the best and fastest web hosting company available for WordPress – WPEngine. My experience over the past year with them has been extraordinary. To say that I have been satisfied would be a vast understatement. I’ve been more than satisfied. If you haven’t read it before, I encourage you to read my original article on my experience with moving this blog over to WPEngine.

Site speed (page load times) was my number one reason for moving in the first place. And my results have been remarkable. But here’s the thing… I left some of my best money-making niche websites on my old Hostgator shared hosting account. Load times on those sites continued to be horrendous. Makes me wonder if those sites would have been making even more money if I hadn’t left them on that slow shared server for so long. I did finally move them, but what took me so long…?

Getting Started with Amazon Niche Sites – How to Find Profitable Niches and Limitless Keywords

Amazon Niche Sites - Profitable Niches - Keywords

Amazon niche sites. Amazon Niche Sites - Profitable Niches - KeywordsEverybody wants to build them. Everybody wants to have them. Why in the world are Amazon niche sites so popular? You hardly hear anybody ever talk about building Adsense niche sites anymore. Heck – when I started building niche sites, Adsense sites were THE thing. Very few people were talking about building Amazon sites. But now it’s the other way around. And it’s been that way for most of the last 2 years.

I think part of the reason for the popularity of Amazon niche sites is due to the plethora of successful case studies that people have shared throughout the community of internet marketing bloggers. People are more protective with their Adsense sites and less likely to share for fear of getting their Adsense account shut down by Google. But it’s totally acceptable, and even advantageous, to share a site with your Amazon links plastered all over it. It’s a good way to get more backlinks and even possibly generate more commissions. For example…

The Content Upgrade Strategy for Growing an Email List

The Content Upgrade Strategy

The Content Upgrade Strategy(Big win and even bigger mistake in the last 30 days)

The content upgrade strategy. I’ve been hearing about it for a long time and I’ve been wanting to try it out on this blog. Well – I finally made that happen last month and I have some amazing results to share with you! Given my relatively low traffic numbers on Dumb Passive Income – I was (and continue to be) blown away by the results of implementing this simple strategy.

As you’ll see in my screenshots below, I had a pretty major win last month as a result of using the content upgrade strategy. And the results are ongoing. I’m still getting more daily email subscribers because of this one strategy in just one post. But I also made a huge mistake that resulted in me not possibly doubling those results. Keep reading – you’ll see what I mean…

A Profitable Online Business – Amazon FBA

Profitable Online Business - Amazon FBA

Looking at a few of my more recent income reports (late 2014 and early 2015), it’s hard to miss that my total online income numbers have skyrocketed. This is due mostly to the recent business venture that my lovely wife and I are doing together – selling on Amazon via FBA. If you haven’t seen it already, be sure to check out my original post about how we got started – Side Hustling with My Lady. Income is up. No doubt about that. But expenses have skyrocketed too. Due to the nature of this type of business – we have to spend money to make money.

In this post, I’m going to dig through my numbers from my first 4 or 5 months in this business and answer the following questions:

  • Is selling on Amazon via FBA a profitable online business model?
  • Is selling on Amazon via FBA considered passive income?
  • How much money have I spent?
  • How much money have I earned?
  • How much inventory do I have at Amazon?

Side Hustling with My Lady

My Girl - Laney - drinking coffee at 2 years old.
My Girl – Laney – drinking coffee at 2 years old.

Over the years, my “make money online” side hustle efforts have taken me in a bunch of different directions. From selling stuff on eBay, to writing articles, to blogging, to niche sites and affiliate marketing and even creating my own web-based service. I’ve had plenty of failures and even some pretty good successes as of late. But one thing missing from all of the above is the interest and participation of my wife. My Lady (as I call her in real life) had absolutely zero involvement or interest in anything I’ve been doing online over the last several years. Other than spending the money that I bring in, my wife (Susie) has had nothing at all to do with any of my internet side hustle ventures.

Until now that is. We finally found something that we can work on together. Something that incorporates the thing that I specialize in and enjoy – making money online.  And something that also incorporates an activity that Susie enjoys and is good at – shopping! Who knew? In this post, I’m going to share the following:

  • how we were introduced to this idea
  • why it took us so long to get started
  • several resources and sources of motivation that you can use to do this too [Update]: FREE Guide available now
  • our experience and results after the first couple of weeks
  • our plans to take this business to the next level – 5 figures per month!
