Shalla Monteiro helped homeless poet Raimundo Arruda Sobrinho realize his dream by publishing his work. Raimundo was homeless for 35 years and wrote poems on pieces of paper which he would leave around the city. Shalla stumbled upon his poems, was moved by their beauty, and worked with Raimundo to publish a book of his work, which became a best-seller in Brazil. Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author of the “Little House on the Prairie” book series, passed away on February 10, 1957 at the age of 90. Her books were based on her own childhood experiences growing up on the American frontier in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
