Introducing My New ‘Dumb Ass’ Branding

In a world where everybody thinks they have to be politically correct… Where thoughts and ideas and opinions are suppressed for fear that somebody, somewhere, might get offended… It’s time for me to unveil something that I thought of a LONG time ago – but I never revealed it or did anything with it. Admittedly, it was fear that held me back. Fear of what people would think of me and my brand.

Well, I kind of let my blog die over the last couple of years. My focus online has been elsewhere. But I want to bring back the Dumb Passive Income blog in a big way. So, I thought, there will never be a better time to introduce my new branding. Think of it this way… you can’t spell ‘Dumb Passive Income’ without putting a Dumb Ass in there! So, here is the logo that I actually created several years ago and never really shared with the world…

Matt’s Dumb Ass Weekend Update

Yup, that’s right. I’m a dumbass! And I’d like to invite you to be a dumbass too! You can be a part of my dumbass community by simply following my blog. Lol. In my new logo and in other graphics on the blog – you’ll notice that it still says Dumb Passive Income – but the letters that spell out ‘dumbass’ are in black and the rest are in dark purple.

That is what this weekend update is all about. I’m sort of re-launching my brand. The URL and the name of the site will remain as it is – Dumb Passive Income. But I’m going to use my ‘dumbass’ branding as well because I just think it’s funny.

My audience has dwindled. Traffic to this site is currently almost non-existant. I rarely send emails to my email list. In fact, I trimmed down my email list quite a bit and deleted a whole bunch of subscribers who hadn’t opened any emails from me in more than a year.

Regardless – I’ve been itching to blog again. Even if I don’t really have time and I have other responsibilities (online) that need my focus and attention… I’d rather just write this blog post right now. My plan is to continue writing updates like this (hopefully) weekly. I have a bunch of cool topic ideas that I will be able to include in weekly updates like this. Some you will see below (H2 Headings) and others I will save for future updates.

Here’s the plan. I’m going to use many of the exact same subheadings in my weekend update blog posts – but I am going to change up the text that comes after each sub-heading. So, let’s dig in for this week’s update!

Well… This is a ‘Passive Income’ Blog

I just Googled the term ‘passive income’ and was not really surprised at what I see. All of the top ranking sites for that search term are mega-websites that have a ton of authority.

Did you know…? Many years ago, like maybe in 2013, this very Dumb Passive Income blog actually ranked in the top 10 in Google for the monster search term – ‘passive income’. It didn’t stay there for long… but it was there briefly.

Today – bankrate.com holds the top spot for ‘passive income’ on Google – and the post really isn’t even very good. It’s obvious that the massive authority metrics for bankrate.com are why it ranks. If you want to read a very bland and vague post about some generic passive income ideas – then that is the post for you.

If you want to know my definition of passive income and my thoughts about it – then here ya go…

passive income can be defined as income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it. That’s what this blog is all about! Finding different ways to create passive income, both online and offline – and striving to continuously increase the amount of passive income that comes in each month.

I Can’t Stop Buying Stuff on Amazon

My wife (Susie) and I are guilty as charged. We are regular contributors to the Jeff Bezos wealth machine that is Amazon. We’ve faithfully renewed our Prime membership for many years now and we order stuff pretty much weekly. It’s just easier to tap that buy button on Amazon via a phone and wait 2 days for the product to arrive – rather than drive to a store.

Here is my featured product for this week – something that I recently purchased from Amazon. I don’t even know if I’d be able to find something like this in a store. It’s a nifty little ‘bottle opener’ (ah-hem… cough, cough).

[amalinkspro type=”showcase” asin=”B073S5ZBY4″ apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073S5ZBY4?tag=&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ new-window=”true” addtocart=”false” nofollow=”true” sc-id=”4″ imgs=”LargeImage” link-imgs=”false” specs=”Material: 100% zinc alloy makes it solid and last a lifetime. 2 Pack in 1.~~~Bottle Opener: Compact and convenient design makes it fit any keychain and wallet.~~~Ideal for taken as gifts for hunters, farmers, police officers, dog owners, mail couriers, and more.~~~100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: ICare-US offers complete customer satisfaction. I can’t honestly say that I’ve actually used this thing to open a bottle yet. Most of the beer I drink tends to come in a can. Hehehe. But that’s not why I haven’t used this gadget to open a bottle.

Let’s just say that I ‘accidentally’ discovered another use for this ‘bottle opener’ gadget. For obvious liability reasons – you can see why it isn’t marketed for this purpose. And I’m not telling you what you should or shouldn’t do with this niftly little ‘bottle opener’. I’m just saying that I was trying to open a beer with it while driving the other day and it slipped out of my hand and I thought if fell between my car seat and the center counsel – but when I looked down this is what I saw!

bottle opener fell between the seat

I was completely shocked (wink, wink) to find out that it fit perfectly into my seat belt connector thingy! And much to my delight – my stupid seatbelt alarm doesn’t annoyingly beep anymore if I’m moving my truck around while not buckled up! Now I can open bottles of beer while driving unbuckled! Lol. I’m just kidding. I wouldn’t drink & drive and of course I always (wink, wink) buckle up when driving. But as it turns out – I can now back my truck down the driveway without buckling up and not have to hear that annoying seat belt alarm.

Disclaimer: I am not suggesting that you use this product for what it was obviously intended for (opening bottles) or for any other application. In fact, there is a clear disclaimer in fine print right on the product itself. See image below.

Your Book Report is Due

I LOVE to read. I love reading books! Although I rarely ever actually sit and read a good old-fashioned book that is printed on paper and has a binding and a front and a back cover. Most of my reading these days is done by listening to audio books via my Audible app. Here is the book that I started and finished last week…

Tap Code: The Epic Survival Tale of a Vietnam POW and the Secret Code That Changed Everything

[amalinkspro type=”cta-btn-css” ctabtn-id=”0″ asin=”0310359112″ apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/0310359112?tag=&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ addtocart=”false” new-window=”true” nofollow=”true” alignment=”aligncenter”]Buy Now on Amazon[/amalinkspro]

This book was absolutely phenomenal. I could hardly (figuratively) set it down. It’s rare that I finish an entire audio book in one work week – but this one was so good. To say the least – I’ve gained a newfound respect for war veterans as a result of reading this book. I mean… I’ve always had respect for all men & women who serve or have served in the U.S. armed forces. But after reading this book and learning what actual prisoners of war (POW’s) actually endured… Wow! It’s just unfathomable to me what others have done to fight for my freedom as an American.

I can’t say the same for every book that I listen to on Audible… but this is one that I will definitely be purchasing a hard copy of to put on my book shelf. This is a book that I want my kids to read one day – for sure.

McDonald’s – I’m Lovin’ It!

No joke! I really do love McDonald’s. Everything about it. Great food. Great consistency. Great branding. Most of all – great story behind the founding of McDonald’s.

I’ve always ‘liked’ McDonald’s as a fast-food joint and just an all-around good place to get a decent quick meal for cheap. But I didn’t start to ‘love’ McDonald’s until I watched the Hollywood production based on the true story of the founding of McDonald’s. I wrote an entire blog post about how Ray Kroc’s ‘Grinding it Out’ story on his founding of McDonald’s inspired me as an entrepreneur.

Products That Don’t Compare

While browsing the deals section on Amazon not too long ago – I was surprised to find that I could purchase a decent waffle maker for less than $20. As I researched a bunch of the waffle makers available on Amazon – I found that there was quite an array of options available. I put together this comparison table to show you what I mean…

What to Expect…

As mentioned at the beginning of this post – I will be using many of the same subheadings in my weekly updates – but I will be mixing it up a little bit as well. All depends how the week goes and what motivates me. For this week – you’re stuck with only what I wrote up above. But in upcoming weeks – here are some subheadings that might make it into my weekend update post…

The Featured Image…

The image you see at the very top of this post is me and my daughter Elena. I took this selfie while we were enjoying some rolled ice cream at the Rivertown Crossings mall after a long day of Christmas shopping. This is an annual event that the two of us partake in. It’s more of a daddy-daughter date than it is a shopping trip. But we both love it and wouldn’t trade the time together for anything in the world.

The End

This concludes this weeks update. Thanks for checking in and I hope to see you back real soon!
