Long Tail Pro Review

Long Tail Pro Review

Long Tail Pro – once hailed as the undisputed best keyword research tool – has certainly seen it’s ups and downs over the years. Long Tail Pro was originally created by Spencer Haws, from NichePursuits.com, back in 2011. He paid to have the software developed in order to relieve his own frustration with the amount of time it took him to find good keywords. In this Long Tail Pro Review – I’m going to cover every aspect of the tool, from its origin to the latest update and all of the features and everything in between.

Long Tail Pro evolved and went through several changes in its first few years. The most notable being the addition of the Keyword Competitiveness (KC) score – which is a keyword difficulty measurement. This was a revolutionary change that was pioneered by Spencer and Long Tail Pro and, at the time, was the only tool (that I know of) that had this type of feature.

Eventually, Spencer sold his Long Tail Pro business. It’s a fascinating story, really. You can read all about it in full detail on Spencer’s blog (linked below) or listen to the story in Spencer’s own words on Steve Chou’s podcast (also linked below)…

4 Ways to Get Long Tail Pro and Make it Pay for Itself (Updated)

Get Long Tail Pro - Make It Pay for Itself

When I finally made the decision the get Long Tail Pro way back in December of 2012 – I honestly had no idea how much this one piece of software would impact everything I do online. I knew that it would help me find more and better keywords right off the bat. But I didn’t know exactly how much it would positively affect my ability to actually make money online. I can say with confidence, that Long Tail Pro is the one tool that has made the biggest difference (by far), in my ability to get traffic to websites and actually earn money online.

Don’t get me wrong. There are lots of other tools that I love and use (and promote) that also make a big difference in everything I do online now. But Long Tail Pro is probably THE most important. Getting search engine traffic to websites 101 doesn’t get more basic than doing good and proper keyword research. And nothing makes keyword research faster and easier than Long Tail Pro. Allow me to explain…

Passive Income Ideas and Answers – Ask Matt – July and August 2016

Passive Income Ideas - Ask Matt - July - August 2016

Passive Income Ideas - Ask Matt - July - August 2016Welcome to the 2nd edition of my “Ask Matt” series! In case you didn’t see the 1st edition, check it out if you want to read details about why I started this series. Basically, I got tired of wasting time answering questions privately via email and figured I might as well answer questions publicly on the blog. I figure, if one person has a question they need answered, surely others have the same (or similar) questions. So why not publish my answers so that everyone can benefit?

The previously undisclosed intent was going to be to publish these Q & A posts monthly. And I certainly had enough questions to create a separate post for July… but I slacked off and didn’t make the time to get the post written and published. So… August is almost over and I’m about to hit publish on this post which includes questions for July and August. Feel free to read the entire thing. Or just scan the subheadings to see which questions might apply to, or interest you. Hope you enjoy and I hope this helps (at least in some small way).

Okay. Here are the questions and answers…

[Dumb] Passive Income Report for July 2015

dumb passive income report july 2015

Welcome to my [Dumb] Passive Income Report! This blog is all about what I am doing to create several different passive income streams. This monthly income report details my results. I work very hard and dedicate many hours each week to working on my different online endeavors in an attempt to create passive income. So why do I consider it passive income then? Because I am not trading specified amounts of time for a predetermined amount of money like I do at my day job. Most of the income you will see in this report results from work I have done in the past.

Why am I sharing my income publicly? Hopefully to gain credibility with you (the readers) and to maintain a certain degree of accountability for myself. I could blog all day long about what I am doing to create passive income online, including some of my unique strategies. But why would anybody trust me and believe that what I am doing works if I don’t prove it by sharing my results? This is what I mean by gaining credibility and this is one of the main purposes for sharing my income. I also share my failures on the blog, which holds me accountable. Knowing that I will be publishing a monthly income report will keep me motivated to keep pushing forward and plugging away on the things I need to do to create future passive income.

Niche Site at Night – Choosing a Niche (and More Keyword Research Explained)

choosing a niche

choosing a nicheWell – I did it. I chose my niche and I’ve revealed it publicly within the video embedded below. There’s no turning back now. I’ve gone out on a limb. I’ve dipped my toes in the water. I’m in uncharted territory and the adventure is just beginning! I’m actually pretty excited about the niche that I’ve chosen. Excited for more reasons than one. I’m really excited about the possibilities that I could bring to life within a site built around this topic. It’s based on something I previously knew absolutely nothing about – but I can see myself becoming very passionate about. I’m actually looking forward to putting a lot of time into this niche site because I am eager to learn more about it and help others learn more about the topic too.

There are some things about this niche though that might seem a little off-the-wall, especially to experienced niche site builders who have been in the game for the past couple of years. As I dove into the keyword research and some of the other criteria I use to select a niche – I went a little bit against the grain as far as doing things the way many people have done them recently in the world of building niche sites.

How to Find Profitable Keywords for Amazon Affiliate Sites

Amazon Affiliate Sites
No – you can’t buy kids on Amazon!

Amazon affiliate sites seem to be all the rage lately. It seems like everybody is building them. The popularity of Amazon product-based niche sites seemed to make itself apparent when Spencer Haws published his first public niche site project on his popular blog – Niche Pursuits. Ever since he shared his success with that public project – I’ve been seeing Amazon affiliate niche websites everywhere! The popularity of Amazon sites was proven even more to me recently when I launched my own keyword research service. Just during the beta test period, 60% of my customers wanted me to find keywords for them to build Amazon sites around. As a result, I’ve been doing a LOT of keyword research around topics that relate to products that are being sold on Amazon. In case you didn’t know – Amazon sells almost literally everything imaginable! In other words, there are limitless products being sold every day on Amazon and even more keywords that can lead to those products. Amazon is willing to pay out healthy commissions to their affiliates – which makes creating Amazon affiliate sites more and more attractive. Once you see how easy it is to find low competition keywords that lead to profitable Amazon niches – you’ll likely want to jump on the bandwagon too!

Should You Get Long Tail Pro or Market Samurai?

Get Long Tail Pro or Market Samurai
Mermaids have Long Tails too!

Several people have asked me why I think they should get Long Tail Pro, especially if they already own and use Market Samurai for keyword research. I’ve even been asked specifically, by more than one person, to write a Long Tail Pro vs Market Samurai post. I’ve been meaning to write this post for a long time, but have been procrastinating. The reason for this is partly because I don’t feel 100% qualified to write anything good or bad about Market Samurai. I’ve only used their free 10-day trial, and that was nearly a year ago when I did that. However, I do have access to all kinds of information and sources on the topic that I can share and point you to. I do own and use Long Tail Pro and am a huge fan of the product, especially since the release of the Platinum version. I tell you this up front so you understand that this post might come off as a little bit biased. I am okay with that though, as I feel it should be biased when my findings clearly show that one tool is better than the other for how and what I use it for.

Analyzing “What Keywords Do I Rank For?” with Long Tail Pro – Platinum

Long Tail Pro - Dumb Passive IncomeHave you ever Googled the question, “What keywords do I rank for?” Me neither. But I know that a little over 200 people worldwide Google that exact question every month (on average). And I know exactly what they are looking for and why. They simply want to see what keywords their website is ranking for in Google, and in what position. This can be very useful information if you know what to do with it. Consider this to be a sort of internal keyword research for your website. Really, it’s more of an analysis. But if you combine your website analysis with some good keyword research, you will quickly see the benefit and understand ways that you could improve search traffic to your website or blog.

Keyword Research for Blogging: Picking the Right Keyword

Long Tail Pro - Dumb Passive IncomeSince purchasing my new tool – Long Tail Pro – a few weeks ago, and being given the privilege of testing out the beta version of Long Tail Platinum, I can’t stop doing keyword research! It’s like an obsessive addiction and I just can’t get enough. I’m finding myself doing keyword research, just out of curiosity, for other websites that I visit. Most of these sites are blogs, and I just can’t get over how overlooked and under-used this entire concept of keyword research for blogging is. It has become my new obsession to get the word out to the blogging community. My mission is to show bloggers how they could and should be taking advantage of some pretty simple tactics to drive as much search traffic to their sites as possible.

One great way to grow an audience to your blog is through search engine traffic. You just never know which random searcher is going to land on your blog, like it, subscribe to it, share it, and keep coming back for more. There are certain numbers of people searching for different search terms on Google every single month. By knowing how to properly do keyword research and how to use those keywords to best optimize your blog posts, you can get as many of these searchers as possible to land on your blog. The beauty of growing your blog or website through search engine optimization is that you don’t get the same people coming back time and time again. Different people throughout the entire world will be typing in the search terms that you are optimizing for and at different times. The growth potential is endless if you properly optimize a post on your site for a low competition keyword that gets lots of searches!
